Recently, the genius and creator of the Metal Gear Solid series, Hideo Kojima, was reported on speaking about the difference in his development team; with the PSP team trying to push the series further, but with big technical restraints from the PSP, where as the MGS Rising team have a huge budget and graphically, the tech side of things are not as pressed as Metal Gear Solid Rising will be rolled out across the XBox 360, PS3 & PC.
Kojima said, “The PSP [team] is working day and night to make [Peace Walker] even better than MGS4, but of course they can’t do it because of a lot of restrictions,” explained Kojima.
“On the other hand, the Rising team is using loads of money and loads of capacity and hardware specs. If you can, imagine the PSP team looking at the Rising team saying, ‘They have all the money and specs!’ That’s the one reason why they are not good friends.
“It’s interesting for me to see the team members act in this way. This was never [the case] before because it was always just one small team. Now we are much bigger.”
But for us, the consumer of this series, this is GREAT news. In house competition, as long as it stays healthy and the PSP and Rising team don’t have a fight, it should spur them both on to create masterpieces of which we have never seen before.
